How to Check an AI Answer Before You Rely on It

AI can produce useful answers quickly, but a confident answer can still be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Before you rely on an answer for something important, separate what the AI said from what the evidence supports.

A simple five-step check

  1. Restate the question. Make sure the system answered the question you actually meant.
  2. Ask what would change the answer. Look for assumptions, missing facts and uncertainty.
  3. Check the source. Prefer the original document, data source or accountable authority when possible.
  4. Look for contradiction. Search for evidence that disagrees rather than only evidence that agrees.
  5. Keep a human owner. If the consequence matters, a person should decide whether the evidence is strong enough to act.

Q10 tools add structure around these steps, but the central idea is simple: an AI answer is a claim to examine, not an authority to obey.
